WHO WE ARE

About 20 years ago Dmitry and Ludmila visited Sardinia for the first time and fell in love with the island. They were astounded by the beauty of its nature, its culture, its people and of course by the amazing local wine - Vermentino. Sardinia beckoned them back so much that 10 years after the first visit they decided to move to the island from Latvia for good.

As fans and connoisseurs of good wine, they got interested in winemaking and local wine varieties, especially the white Vermentino. Vermentino grapes are cultivated on the island since the 14th century, it is the most renowned wine of Sardinia.

To the north, in the Gallura region, on granite soils this grape has reached such a level that it has received its own DOCG, the first and only one in Sardinia. DOCG is the highest designation for Italian wines. Locals call Vermentino di Gallura – “vero vermentino”, which means “the real vermentino”. It ranks among the top five wines in Italy.

After several years on Sardinia Dmitry and Ludmila have made a discovery! Almost by accident they came across a wonderful vineyard with vines aged 30 years and older. It is a rare find these days in Gallura.

VINEYARD

So in 2019 Dmitry and Ludmila bought an eight hectare vineyard on the granite slopes at the altitude ranging from 250 to 280 meters above the sea level. The soils in the vineyard are heavily characterised by granite and surrounded by maquis, a typical Sardinian foliage, which forms a truly unique landscape and terroir. It is located in a charming place called Cumitasanna, close to San Leonardo in Gallura region. The story of the vineyard begins in 1987, when Pasqualino Pasella planted Vermentino vines and from 1990 on he sold the whole harvest to a local cooperative - Cantina Gallura.

WINE

Wine from the 2022 harvest has been bottled in March of 2023. 5000 bottles of Cumitasanna DOCG 2022 Base and 3000 bottles of Cumitasanna Superiore DOCG 2022.
